All workshops are an additional fee of $40 (Early Bird Price) or $50 there-after. You must buy a gate entrance ticket to get into the event PLUS a workshop ticket to participate in any workshop.
WORKSHOP 1 – Saturday 13th March 2021
Masterclass 1: Aroids – care, culture & propagation
Time: 10am – 11am
Presenter: Trevor Crawford
SESSION: Aroids are all the rave for plant collectors, plant addicts, plant-parents and plant-hoarders. Learn from the expert – correct growing media, propagation methods for cuttings and seed.
Take home cuttings, seed and even some potted plants!

WORKSHOP 2 – Saturday 13th March 2021
Masterclass 2: Skin care with common garden weeds
Time: 11.30am – 12.30pm
Presenter: Kate Wall
SESSION: Not all weeds are bad. In fact, crops we now eat were once considered weeds. For centuries, medicine and beauty products were also based on commonly grown and sourced weeds. Let’s revive history with a workshop on helpful weeds.
Participants will make an healing infused oil to take home using garden weeds which are amazingly medicinal.
WORKSHOP 3 – Saturday 13th March 2021
Masterclass 3: Potting mix – how to make your own
Time: 1pm – 2pm
Presenter: Stephen Flood
SESSION: What goes into a potting mix? Why do some plants need a different mix than others? Nurseryman Steven Flood with explain all the differences and how to make different mixes for different plants using a simple formula and a few essential products.
Participants have the opportunity to make a potting media(s) to take home and grow plants in.
WORKSHOP 4 – Saturday 13th March 2021
Masterclass 4: Terrariums for beginners
Time: 2.30pm – 3.30pm
Presenter: Shandel Lawton-Price
SESSION: In the session, each participant will learn how to recreate their own indoor rainforest in a jar.
Participants will get to take home the terrarium they create!
WORKSHOP 5 – Sunday 14th March 2021
Masterclass 5: Garden design for small gardens
Time: 9.30am – 10.30am
Presenter: Clare James
SESSION: In the session, participants will create your own garden design sketch for a small garden, balcony or courtyard.
NOTE: Participants need to bring along a ‘mud map’ of their property which you will work through during the session. This is a plan view map of your garden that shows important elements such as pathways, garden beds, house/shed/property dimensions, pool, power, electricity and water. A simple google search will show you more about mud-maps.
Participants will get to take home an understanding of how to improve their property value and enjoy their outdoor living space by adopting ideas and concepts through garden design!
WORKSHOP 6 – Sunday 14th March 2021
Masterclass 6: How to be a Plant Doctor 101
Time: 11.00am – 12.00pm
Presenter: Annette Irish
SESSION: In the session, participants will learn how to apply a step-by-step investigative technique to identify poor plant health. With this knowledge, you will be better equipment to diagnose plant health problems at home to become your own ‘Plant Doctor’. This knowledge helps you identify problems and come up with solutions to treat & help your native, non-native and edible plants.
Participants are asked NOT to bring in diseased plant material to avoid introducing any pathogens to the event or exhibitors. Presenter (Annette Irish) will provide samples for this workshop while supporting biosecurity.
Participants will get to take home skills that they can use for a lifetime of gardening!
WORKSHOP 7 – Sunday 14th March 2021
Masterclass 7: Successful propagation from cuttings
Time: 12.30pm – 1.30pm
Presenter: Paul Washuta
SESSION: In the session, learn the most common (and easiest) methods to propagate plants so that you can enjoy the happiness of making new ‘plant-babies’ at home. Participants will take a closer look at several techniques and factors for taking cuttings successfully. Learn tricks of the trade and how best to increase your garden plants by saving money.
Participants will get to take their propagated specimens home!
