Paul Plant shares his gardening knowledge and experiences on radio, print and television. He is most well-known for his involvement in subTropical Gardening magazine and gardening talkback programs on radio stations 4BC, NoosaFM and ABC Sunshine Coast.
He is a popular garden presenter at events throughout South East Queensland and Sydney where his enthusiasm for collecting and growing unusual plants inspires other gardeners to expand their growing experience to ornamental (native and non-native) and edible plants.
Paul strongly believes in creating gardening experiences throughout his presentations and demonstrations covering topics such as new introductions, old-fashioned, rare, common, native and non-native, edible and poisonous plants – for now and future generations with the current growing conditions and potential climate change.
Diversity in a garden or landscape is a fundamental necessity for creature diversity in our urban lives. Gardening is all about sharing and experiencing what nature has on offer.
“Like all gardeners we are all keen to learn more about gardening and horticulture”.
Paul’s passion for gardening started as a child in Coopers Plains (Brisbane) and developed into a degree in Horticulture at the University of Queensland (Gatton Campus). He has served as Chairman of the Friends of Noosa Botanic Garden; as Director of the Friends of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens and Sherwood Arboretum; and is an active member of many professional industry associations.
Paul is a Registered Horticulturist (RH0096) and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Horticulture (FAIH). In 2017, Paul was featured in the book ‘Australia’s Most Influential Garden People’.
